Velinformerede kilder i Colombo betegner
LTTE-medlemmer, enten i forvaring eller som operative enheder på øen, som de
mest sårbare overfor kontraspionage mod den tamilske nation fra
Colombo-regeringens side. Colombo-regeringen fokuserer nu på at få den sektion
af LTTE, der er fanget i en fælde, til at fordømme Tamil Eelam og intensiverer
deres bestræbelser på at gøre brug af 'Heltenes Dag' til at afprøve
kontraspionagen. Colombo bliver bistået af visse magter i disse bestræbelser,
udtalte kilderne endvidere. Imidlertid besvarede udlandstamilske cirkler nyheden
ved at sige, at under de nuværende omstændigheder bør enhver 'erklæring',
henvendt til offentligheden betragtes, ikke ud fra synspunktet "hvad der bliver
sagt eller hvem, der har sagt det, men ud fra, hvor det er blevet sagt." Det
frie LTTE har et stort ansvar med hensyn til at fremme den opståen af nyt
demokratisk lederskab, som virkelig repræsenterer tamilernes nationale
forhåbninger, udtalte de videre.
