Singalesiske lederes dobbeltspil om krig og fred resulterer i, at tamilerne ikke har noget andet valg end politisk uafhængighed

Lederen af Befrielses Tigrene for TamilEelam (LTTE), Velupillai Pirapaharan, udtrykte i sin årlige erklæring på Heltenes Dag stærk frustration over den uforandrede holdning fra skiftende singalesiske regeringer over for at løse det brændende tamilske nationale spørgsmål og, i særdeleshed, den svigefulde håndtering af de løbende freds-bestræbelser fra de sidste tre singalesiske regeringers side.




‘Hverken vor befrielses-bevægelse eller vort folk har nogensinde foretrukket krig frem for en fredelig løsning. Vi har altid foretrukket en fredelig fremgangsmåde for at opnå vort folks politiske rettigheder. Vi har aldrig tøvet med at følge den fredelige vej for at opnå vore politiske rettigheder. Det er derfor vi har holdt fredstaler, begyndende i Thimpu og fortsættende hele vejen til Geneve, ved adskillige lejligheder, på forskellige tidspunkter og i mange lande,’ sagde han.

LTTE lederen fortsatte med at sige, at præsident Mahinda Rajapakse har afvist hans seneste opfordring i hans erklæring på Heltenes Dag sidste år til alvorligt at søge en løsning på det tamilske nationale spørgsmål. Han sagde, at præsident Rajapakse i stedet  for, på den ene side havde intensiveret krigen, medens han på den anden side havde talt om at finde en fredelig løsning. LTTE lederen sagde, at denne dobbelttydige holdning til krig og fred er fundamentalt umoralsk. ‘Det er ikke muligt at finde en løsning ved at udelukke og ødelægge den friheds-bevægelse, som man skal lave aftaler med for at finde løsningen. Dette er en politisk absurditet fra de singalesiske lederes side.’ På grund af denne strategi fra Rajapakses regering  er Våbenhvilen (CFA) blevet virkningsløs, sagde han.


 

LTTE ‘lederen sagde, at den nuværende regering, der nægter mennesker, der lever på sultens rand, mad og medicin, kan ikke forventes at vise medfølelse og give det tamilske folk deres politiske rettigheder. Han sagde, at den singalesiske nation, som for evigt sidder fast i Mahavamsa’s mytiske ideologi, er ude af stand til at tænke nyt og kun har givet tamilerne én mulighed,  politisk uafhængighed og  stats-status for TamilEelam’s folk.
