Uidentificerede angribere kastede to granater ind i trykkeri-kontoret på Colombo Tamilske Dagblad, Sudar Oli, kl.ca.18.15 mandag. En sikkerhedsvagt, David Selvaratnam, 50, som blev kvæstet ved angrebet, bukkede under for sine kvæstelser på Colombo Hospital. En korrekturlæser, en computer-operatør og en gæst fra Deepam TV blev også kvæstet ved angrebet. Angriberne skyndte sig væk lige efter, at de havde kastet granaterne ind i Sudar Oli trykkeri-kontoret, der ligger på Madampitiya Vej ved Grandpass i Colombo.

Manickam Kamalanathan, 49, korrekturlæser, blev kvæstet ved angrebet.


En anden ansat, computer-operatør, Subramaniyam Suthas, 29, og A.M.F.Anas, der er ansat ved Deepam TV, og som besøgte kontoret, da angrebet fandt sted, fik også mindre kvæstelser, udtalte Sudar Oli ansatte. Redaktionsstaben, der arbejdede på kontoret, da angrebet fandt sted, slap uskadte. Vinduer på kontoret og kontorartikler i bygningen er også ødelagt.

En varevogn og en bil i nærheden blev også beskadiget. Et øjenvidne sagde, at angriberne kørte i en hvid varevogn. Men et andet øjenvidne påstod, at angriberne forlod stedet på en motorcykle. For to uger siden kastede uidentificerede mænd to granater ind på Sudar Oli’s filial i Wellawatte. Granaterne eksploderede ikke. Senere fjernede politiet granaterne og bragte dem til sprængning på en strand i Wellawatta.


Ved et andet ulykkestilfælde blev en fotograf-journalist fra avisen, Yathurshan Premachandran, alvorligt antastet af en gruppe Janath Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP)-tilhængere, da journalisten dækkede JVP’s demonstration ved Colombo Fort jernbane-station.
