Liget af den bortførte journalist, Dharmaretnam Sivaram blev fredag morgen fundet med alvorlige hovedlæsioner i Himbulala, en singhalesisk forstad mellem Jayawardhenapura hospitalet og parlamentsbygningen i Colombo. Stedet er ca. 500m bag parlaments-komplekset og inde i en højsikkerhedszone. Sivaram, et fremtrædende medlem af TamilNet’s redaktion, blev bortført torsdag aften kl. ca. 22.30 af uidentificerede personer foran Bambalapitya politistation i Colombo.

Det forlyder, at familiemedlemmer har besøgt stedet og identificeret liget.

Politiinspektøren i Thalangama politikreds, Asoka Gunasekere, bragte liget til hospitalet til obduktion.

Journalister, der så liget, sagde, at hovedlæsionerne sandsynligvis er forårsaget af enten skud fra nært hold eller fra slag mod hovedet med et stumpt instrument.

Den nøjagtige dødsårsag vil først være kendt efter lægelige undersøgelser, sagde politikilder.

Han efterlader sin hustru, Herly Yogaranjini (43) og tre børn: Vaishnavy (16), Vaitheky (13) og Seralathan (10)
