‘Norske mæglere bør alvorligt tage stilling til den forværrede situation, der medvirker til en skadelig påvirkning af våbenhvilen (CFA), fredsprocessen og, hvad der er meget vigtigt, indsatsen i forbindelse med post-tsunamien’, udtalte LTTE’s politiske leder, S.P.Thamilchelvan til Den Særlige Norske Udsending, Erik Solheim, da de mødtes i Wien mandag. Thamilchelvan udtrykte alvorlig bekymring over angreb på Befrielsestigrenes politiske repræsentanter og ubevæbnede militærfolk i Amparai og Batticaloa i de områder, der kontrolleres af det srilankanske militær.

I mellemtiden har situationen været anspændt i Amparai siden tirsdag, da demonstranter opfordrede til protest-strejke mod militærets angreb på Kuyilinpan, LTTE’s politiske leder i Amparai.Erik Solheim, der mødtes med LTTE-delegationen i Wien mandag, informerede LTTE’s politiske leder om de forskellige skridt, Norge har taget, for at gøre den fælles mekanisme mellem Sri Lankas regering og LTTE angående tsunami-indsatsen til en realitet.

Erik Solheim opfordrede også LTTE til at tænke fremad, at udvise holdninger med størst mulig fleksibilitet, engagement og god vilje for at opnå en acceptabel fælles indsats, forlød det fra LTTE-kilder i Østrig.
