‘Sri Lankas regering (GOSL) ophævede de tidligere aftaler med tamilerne, fordi de kun var skrevet på et ark papir. Den nuværende aftale (MoU) blev underskrevet med opbakning fra vor militære styrke. Sri Lankas regering kender konsekvenserne af at krænke denne aftale,’ sagde S. Elilan, LTTE’s politiske leder i Trincomalee-distriktet, i sin tale i Trincomalee mandag aften ved det arrangement til ære for forældre til LTTE-martyrer fra Trincomalee-afdelingen , som var en del af højtideligholdelserne på Heltenes Dag.

Som indledning til begivenheden hejste Gunam, lederen af Trincomalee’s nordlige afdeling, det thamileelamske nationalflag, og Mathivannan, leder af Martyr-Enheden i Trincomalee-afdelingen, tændte flammen til minde om ofrene.

Elilan sagde endvidere, at GOSL endnu ikke er parat til at tale med LTTE om forslagene vedrørende Den Midlertidige Selvstyre Myndighed (ISGA). Men regeringslederne fremsætter bemærkninger om ISGA gennem medierne og ved offentlige møder. Det er mere og mere tydeligt, at vi ikke kan forvente en rimelig og retfærdig løsning på den etniske konflikt fra denne regering, sagde Elilan.
