‘Vi hader krig og vi betror på den nuværende fredsproces. Dog er vi på den militære linie klar til at møde en krig, hvis det er påtvunget os’, fortalte S. Elilan, overhoved i LTTE´s politiske fløj i Trincomalee, under mindehøjtideligheden holdt for LTTE´s senior leder, Oberst Thileepan fredag i Trincomalee Hindu Kulturel hallen.

Elilan fortalte yderligere, at Indien har indført det samme politik, som den indførte sidst med indsættelse af indiske hær til den nordøstlige del i Sri Lanka, under påskud om at skaffe sikkerhed til Tamilske folk i provinsen.

Flere hundrede studerende, lærere og medlemmer deltog i fasten fra kl.9.00 om morgenen til kl.16.00 på eftermiddagen, oplyste kilder.

Ved begyndelsen af fasten hejste Malaravan, overhoved for LTTE´s administrative arbejde i Trincomalee, Tamileelams nationalflag. Zonedirektør for Uddannelse i Trincomalee, K. Thilakaretnam tændte offerlyset og Vageesan, overhoved for Studerendes Forbund i Trincomalee bekransede fotografiet af Oberst Thileepan.

Efterfølgende blev der holdt et møde med Vageesan.

Hindu Kulturel hallen, hvor fasten blev holdt.

Banneret fremviste fordringer sat fremme af Oberst Thileepan, da han begyndte hans faste til døden.
