Mandag gav Den Sri lankanske Hær fem indenlandsk tvangsflyttede muslimske familier tilladelse for at flytte tilbage til deres hjem, som er lokaliseret i de høje sikkerhedszoner i Thenmaradchchi i Jaffna-disktriktet. SLA-tjenestemand fra den 53. brigade afleverede nøglerne til de fem huse til de muslimske ejere i nærværelse af Thenmaradchchi Divisionsekretariats embedsmænd, oplyste kilder.

Disse fem muslimske familier, som tidligere havde opholdt i Jumma Moské, bor nu i deres eget hjem, som er lokaliseret i kystområdet langs Chavakachcheri-Thanankilappu Road.

Muslimske familier i Jaffna-distriktet blev tvangsflyttet i 1990. I Chavakachcheri-området blev omkring 83 hjem med muslimske familier taget i besiddelse af SLA på baggrund af de høje sikkerhedszoner.

For nylig vendte omkring 5 muslimske familier tilbage til Chavakachcheri for at flytte ind i deres hjem. Men de blev forhindret at flytte tilbage af SLA, hvorfor de søgte tilflugtssted i Jumma Moské, som er lokaliseret hen ad Chavakachcheri-Thanankilappu Road, oplyste kilder.
