For første gang nogensinde præsenterede oprørsgruppen De Tamilske Tigre (LTTE) fredag Sri Lankas regering for et udspil med bud på, hvordan der kan sættes en stopper for den 20 år lange borgerkrig, der har kostet henved 64.000 mennesker livet.

Norges ambassadør i Sri Lanka, Hans Brattskar, rejste op til den LTTE-kontrollerede by Kilinochchi 330 kilometer nord for hovedstaden, hvor han fik overdraget LTTE’s udspil.


Han fløj derefter tilbage til Colombo i en militærhelikopter og afleverede udspillet til den srilankanske regerings chefforhandler G. L. Peiris.


Detaljerne i oprørernes plan var fredag eftermiddag endnu ikke offentligt kendt. LTTE har aldrig tidligere formuleret egne politiske forslag skriftligt.
