Som led i en udvikling, der forårsager ekstrem vrede blandt tamilerne og hos LTTE, har srilankanske sikkerhedsstyrker på Jaffna halvøen været involveret i talrige provokerende angreb på LTTE personale. I tre forskellige episoder de sidste to dage, gik SLMM ind i sagerne og løste problemerne.
Et medlem af den politiske fløj af LTTE blev, da han opholdt sig i Siththangkerny, standset af srilankanske sikkerhedsstyrker og udsat for forulempelse og gennemsøgning af hans taske. LTTE medlemmet nægtede at tillade hæren gøre det og krævede, at et SLMM medlem skulle undersøge hans taske. Ophidset over dette, konfiskerede hæren hans ID kort og hans taske. Et stort antal civile samledes på området for at forsøge at redde LTTE medlemmet ud af situationen og blev til gengæld angrebet af sikkerhedsstyrker. Omsider ankom SLMM folk til scenen og bragte situationen under kontrol.


I et andet tilfælde omringede soldater fra den srilankanske hær Søtiger lejren i Sullipuram og forsøgte at trænge ind på lejrens område for at foretage en eftersøgning. De blev forhindret i at trænge ind i lejren af LTTE. SLMM blev underrettet om situationen. Vi har forstået, at en inspektion af lejren derpå fandt sted under overvågning af SLMM.


  LTTE’s regionale politiske kontor, beliggende i Sandilipay var udsat for angreb to på hinanden følgende dage. Den første granat eksploderede ikke. Den anden eksploderede imidlertid. Der var ingen tilskadekomne.
