Den nationale Bhikkhu front (Jathika Sanga Sammelanaya- JSS), en sinhala
nationalist organisation bestående af munke med afdelinger i alle større sinhala
distrikter. Organisationen er tæt forbundet til marxisten Janata Vimukthi
Peramuna, begge demonstrerede imod den norske ambassade i Columbo, og krævede en
udvisning af Den norske ambasssadør, Jon Westborg til Oslo, ifølge kilderne fra
Colombo.

De buddhistiske munke brændte to norske flag overfor ambassaden, før de
marcherede mod præsident sekretariatet hvor de overrakte et memorandum dedikeret
til Sri Lankas præsident Chandrika Kumaratunge.

Præsident Kumaratunges sekretær modtog memorandumet fra National Bhikkhu
Front sekretær Kalevelgale Chandaloka.

Protesten var rettet imod LTTEs seneste import af kommunikations udstyr og
den norske ambassades involvering.

Disse fredsforkastende handlinger fra den singalesiske budhistiske
præsterskabet bekymrer mange tamiler, da der er også voksende modstand mod
fredsforhandlinger hos den magtfulde præsidenten og militæret.
