Jaffna-korrespondenten ved Sakthi TVstation,
Paranirupasingam Thevakumar, 34, blev onsdag kl. ca.16.00 bortført, da han var
på vej hjem til sin bolig i Vaddukkoaddai, og slået til døde i et øde område i
Kaakkaitheevu, rapporteredes det fra Jaffna. Hans ven blev alvorligt såret og
døde af sine kvæstelser på Jaffna hospital.

Thevakumar, en ung familiefar, der blev gift sidste
år, var en af de få, der turde arbejde fra Jaffna i en tid, hvor mange
journalister fra de større medier er flygtet fra Jaffna. Han var også leder af
TVstationen, SakthiTV, i Jaffna.
 
Hans ven, som døde på Jaffna hospital,
identificeredes som Mahenthiran Varathan, 28, en medarbejder ved Jaffna
distrikts-sekretariat.
 
SakthiTV ejes af et af de største private
medie-selskaber, Maharajah Television (MTV) og står for MTV Engelsk, SirasaTV på
singhalesisk og SakthiTV på tamilsk.
