krigsforbrydelser ikke viser fremskridt, rapporterede ABC Radio Australia, at
den australske 'Unge Juristers Gruppe' i New South Wales er ved at slutte sig
sammen med 'International Kommission af Jurister' (ICJ) for at fremsende
vidneerklæringer og fremskaffe beviser for handlinger, og fremskaffe beviser for
Sri Lankanske sikkerhedsstyrkers handlinger og den politiske og militære
kommando angående fremtidige domstoles krigsforbrydelser på Sri
Lanka.


ABC sagde, at en tidligere talsmand for FN i Colombo havde anslået, at op mod 40.000 tamilske civile blev dræbt i krigens sidste måneder, og at den srilankanske regering har afvist opfordringer til uafhængig efterforskning om mulige krigsforbrydelser.

“Efter diskussionerne blev vi klare over, at de unge jurister ønskede at afhjælpe de frygtelige konsekvenser af problemerne i Sri Lanka efter LTTE’s nederlag og før. Juristerne ønsker at finde beviser, registrere dem og fremlægge dem for for krigstribunalerne” udtalte John Dowd, president for *Juristernes Internationale Kommission’ til ABC.
